This article says that women and men are equally good at math. I know what you’re thinking… Great, but we knew that already.
Then it explains that this is actually old news, “but word has been slow to reach teachers and parents.” Apparently we’re still not convinced that girls can be good at math, and we’re subconsciously (or consciously?) guiding them away from math-heavy majors and careers. Our doubts are affecting their self-concept in these fields.
The moral of the story is that fewer stereotypes and more confidence from us will equal more women in physics. Awesome. I’m in.
