First, thank you so much to all of you who read this blog. It’s been a great way for me to process everything that has happened this year, and I wouldn’t be doing it if there wasn’t at least one of you out there reading it. (Trust me, I like you better than my friends who don’t read this. I know who they are….)
Even more thanks to those of you who have read this blog and shared it with others. This weekend, I was at an event with a very incredible friend of mine from college, who has also been one of my most devoted readers from the start. He wanted me to meet a friend of his, because apparently that friend now also reads my blog. He introduced me as “Math in AZ”, and my real name didn’t come until much later. It made me feel like a celebrity… thanks guys
And the biggest thank-you of all goes out to those of you who have read this blog and then donated your stuff to my kids. All those old pens/pencils/notebooks/binders/etc forgotten in your desk drawers are always greatly appreciated here, but the best of all was when someone read this entry, cleaned out his closet, and mailed me all his old ties. A bunch of my boys graduated 8th grade wearing those ties, and you should have seen how their confidence improved when they put them on. So thank you, thank you, thank you… from me and my kids.
Don’t let this sappy post make you think this is good-bye for the summer. I promise I’ll keep writing and keep it education-related, but it’s probably about to get much less frequent and possibly less interesting. We’ll see how it goes.
P.S. Didn’t realize you could donate all your old junk to me and now you want to? Want to see my teacher wish-list and help me get new materials? Email me at [email protected] (or obviously through any other way you know to reach me) and we can make it happen.
